General information about Theta (THETA)

Decentralization, based on blockchain technology, makes it possible to cope with the high bandwidth demand for this type of service. The network is distributed from users, providing their bandwidth, to ensure quality and many live viewers (peer-to-peer network). These users are the nodes of the $Theta decentralized network.

The network, launched in March 2019, operates as a decentralized network where users share bandwidth and computing resources on a peer-to-peer (P2P) basis. The project is being advised by Steve Chen, co-founder of YouTube, and Justin Kahn, co-founder of Twitch. It has its own $THETA cryptocurrency token, which performs various governance tasks on the network.

Project features

Theta's core vision - to decentralize video streaming, data delivery and edge computing to be more efficient, cost-effective and fair to industry participants. The network runs on its own blockchain with two native tokens known as $THETA, Theta Fuel (TFUEL), fueling the domestic economy.

THETA's total supply is limited to 1 billion tokens. It is distributed in various proportions among all network members, as well as the team itself and the reserve pool. The token itself was launched in 2018, after which it was distributed to buyers as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. After that, all ERC-20 $THETAs were converted to native $THETAs on the mainnet.
