What is Across Protocol?

Across Protocol — an internet-based bridging protocol that allows users to complete transactions between chains almost instantly. This is achieved through the use of an oracle, linked relays and one-way liquidity pools.

About Across Protocol

The Across Protocol allows users to move tokens between chains, using a decentralized network of relayers, who are reimbursed on the chain of their choice through a single liquidity pool. A user who would like to move funds from chain A to chain B deposits the funds in a "deposit box" on chain A with instructions on where they would like to deposit their funds and the fee they are willing to pay. Relays review these deposits and once they verify that the deposit details are correct, they immediately release the funds to the user on chain B.

After the relay has performed the relay, proof of the performed transaction and the validity of the original deposit is transmitted to the Optimistic Oracle (TO) and the relay receives a refund after this information has been verified by the TO. The user starts an intermediate transaction by calling the deposit function on the SpokePool contract from the source chain. This function will take the funds they would like to send and deposit them into the SpokePool with some information about where the funds should be sent and how much the user is willing to pay as a relay fee.

There are two types of fees, associated with using Across:

1. Gas fee.
2. Bridge fee.
3. The platform has also implemented additional features that ensure that their member's security and privacy are well protected.

For Across to deliver tokens to a user on the destination chain, the transaction must be sent on behalf of the user on the destination chain. The destination gas fee includes the gas costs, associated with this transaction.

More about defi app

Liquidity - an important component of the Across ecosystem as this passive capital helps to recoup the active capital, provided by relayers.

When a person provides liquidity to a pool, they receive an "LP token" which represents their individual stake in the pool. This share becomes more valuable over time as transfer fees accrue on it.Across Protocol

The liquidity provider can withdraw its position at any time if there is sufficient liquidity in the pool. While the amount the liquidity provider withdraws from the pool will always be equal to or greater than the amount it has invested, the liquidity provider may have to wait until the tokens are transferred from the non-Ethereum mainnet chains to the unified Ethereum mainnet liquidity pool.
