Description of the R.Mutt collection
R.Mutt — the first release in a series of three free generative NFT collections from Art101. With licensed Bored Ape, Croc, Mutant, Moo and more, each unique fountain comes pre-made with lots of NFT-themed features. In an unfortunate joke, Marcel Duchamp accepted an offer from the Society of Independent Artists to exhibit any work, as long as a fee was paid, in their first "non-sworn" exhibition in 1917 in midtown Manhattan. He introduced “The Fountain”. He bought an upside down urinal on the street and signed "R. Mutt". The board, of which Duchamp was a member, refused to show the article, citing vulgarity and plagiarism. He resigned in protest, denouncing the Parisian gatekeepers.
Duchamp's Fountain went on to become one of the most influential works of the 21st century. He forever changed the perception of art by the public. Its popularity upended traditionalism, overthrew censorship and gave rise to conceptual art.
