Renowned economist Nouriel Roubini, often referred to as "Dr. Doom" for his pessimistic views on cryptocurrencies, has launched his own crypto venture known as "Atlas." Despite his past harsh criticisms of the crypto industry, Roubini's project aims to create a climate-related token that offers accessible and scalable returns in regions where they are most needed.
Atlas is purportedly backed by a thoughtfully selected portfolio of real-world assets, including climate-resilient real estate investment trusts (REITs), strategic commodities, inflation-hedged sovereign bonds, and gold. This initiative represents a surprising turn for an individual who once declared the entire crypto ecosystem as fraudulent and referred to crypto with the seven "C's": concealed, corrupt, crooks, criminals, conmen, carnival barkers, and CZ, taking a jab at Binance's CEO.
Binance's CEO, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), publicly criticized Roubini for featuring the Binance logo on the Atlas project's website without Binance's consent. Despite their past differences, Roubini's foray into the crypto space with Atlas has garnered attention and reactions from prominent figures in the industry.
