Weekly sales of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in the Polygon ecosystem have tripled from the previous period, reaching an impressive $36 million in the last week. This is a historic achievement for the Tier 2 network, which even surpassed traditional powerhouse Ethereum in 24-hour NFT sales.

News of the sales growth came from the Web3 game Gas Hero, which has been the engine of the boom. The Gas Hero Common Heroes collection has become the top seller, surpassing $3 million in sales in just 24 hours, surpassing even NFT's Ordinals and taking the top spot. Launched just a few days ago, Gas Hero is a Web3 social-strategy game where players form squads of heroes for battles by collecting NFTs and earning GMT, a token of the Find Satoshi Lab ecosystem.

Polygon MATIC 6.8 per cent drop in the price of its own token over the past 24 hours hasn't overshadowed Gas Hero's success. While altcoins are under pressure, traders are channelling capital into bitcoin as they await the launch of the first spot ETF in the US. The rise of NFT on Polygon and plays like Gas Hero emphasise the growing importance of the web and its role in the evolution of Web3.
