Account information on the Binance platform can be purchased for $10,000 in XMR or BTC cryptocurrency. One attacker compromised the emails of three law enforcement officers from different countries, namely Taiwan, the Philippines and Uganda.

Through these hacked email accounts, it is possible to gain access to the "Binance law enforcement portal", which provides legitimate access to account data on the exchange. To find out how the attacker gained access to this panel, researchers from Hudson Rock began by determining the location of the law enforcement portal, which is hosted on the website kodexglobal.com .

This breach carries significant threats beyond the usual cyber threats and data privacy concerns. For holders of cryptocurrencies, the potential consequences can be serious:

Disclosure of wallet addresses and transaction Records: Leaking wallet addresses or transaction history may endanger the anonymity of cryptocurrency transactions. This can trigger targeted attacks or fraud based on transaction data or financial history.

Identity theft and extortion: The personal data that could have been disclosed as a result of this violation can be used to steal personal data and then extort cryptocurrency owners. This data may be misused for malicious purposes.

Financial losses: Access to a platform similar to the Binance law enforcement portal can give unauthorized persons the opportunity to manipulate or compromise accounts, which in turn can lead to significant financial losses for cryptocurrency holders.

In connection with this event, it is recommended that cryptocurrency holders take the following measures to ensure security:

Update passwords regularly and use strong and unique credentials.

Enable additional security measures, such as two-factor authentication, on all platforms.

Be vigilant and watch for signs of suspicious activity in your accounts and on cryptocurrency platforms.
