The WalletConnect Foundation and Reown have released WalletGuide, a comprehensive guide to crypto wallets, along with WalletConnect Certified, a set of UX standards.
Launch of WalletGuide and WalletConnect Standard
Nineteen crypto wallets have been certified by WalletConnect, including Binance Web3 Wallet, SafePal Wallet, TokenPocket, among others. Pedro Gomes, director of the WalletConnect Foundation, explained that certification criteria are based on user feedback and community collaboration. Key areas include minimizing clicks, reducing transaction friction, interoperability, and clear information provision. The CAIP-25 standard was crucial in this initiative.
New Approach to User Experience
According to Gomes, one of the major blockers for mainstream adoption is the complexity of UX. Contemporary blockchain application interfaces act as high technical barriers. Optimizing interaction chains and minimizing interoperability friction are also important for user experience enhancement. However, security concerns often complicate interaction with cryptocurrencies, decentralized finance, and Web3 applications.
Role of Crowdsourcing and Innovation
WalletGuide and WalletConnect Certified are community initiatives based on input from providers and users. Developers and the broader crypto community have consistently advocated for simpler interfaces and user experiences.
As the crypto industry continues to evolve, striving for enhanced user experiences becomes vital for attracting new users.
