  4. Africacomicade will reconvene leading experts in video games and interactive media at Gamathon 2024, to be held from September 30 to October 5, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria.

    About the Event

The Gamathon is an annual event gathering over 2000 creative professionals to learn, connect, and showcase their projects. It is Africa’s premier convention for stakeholders in the Interactive and Immersive Media industry (games, digital art, extended reality).

    History and Partners

Since its initiation in 2020, Gamathon has successfully united global stakeholders and established partnerships with major industry players such as XBOX, STEAM, UNITY, Rovio, Carry1st, the IGDA Foundation, IndieGameBusiness, and Humble Bundle. These collaborations have facilitated dynamic discussions and knowledge sharing, leading to a deeper understanding of the potential and prospects inherent in the African video game industry.

    Program and Participants

The program for Gamathon 2024 includes game jams featuring African game development talents, pitch competitions for receiving prototype grants, exhibitions of creative projects, a tour of Lagos, panel discussions, and a gaming EXPO. Previous speakers included representatives from Microsoft Gaming, Gara Store, and WIPO.

Gamathon 2024 plans to once again unite representatives of the video game industry for networking, knowledge exchange, and opportunities for collaboration and funding.
