Aplus, a company under the Shinsei Bank Group, has partnered with SBI VC Trade to allow the exchange of Aplus bonus points for cryptocurrencies.
Conditions for Earning and Using Aplus Points
Aplus users accumulate points based on their spending. For every ¥200 spent, they receive 1 APLUS point, equivalent to ¥1. If their total monthly spending exceeds ¥50,000, they become eligible for an additional 0.5% bonus. Points are valid for two years from the month of earning.
Cryptocurrencies in the Rewards Program
Cardholders can now exchange 2,100 Aplus Points for either XRP, Bitcoin, or Ethereum worth 2,000 JPY. Previously, points could be redeemed for physical or digital goods, cash, or transferred to other partner point programs.
SBI Group and Ripple Partnership
The inclusion of XRP is not surprising as SBI Group has had a long-standing partnership with Ripple. In 2018, XRP was the only trading option available on SBI VC Trade. Last February, SBI VC Trade added support for XRP lending.
The introduction of cryptocurrency into Aplus's rewards program opens up new possibilities for users, expanding how accumulated points can be utilized.
