Key Dates and Times
Block production will start at 9 AM UTC on January 8. Validators and finality providers can register their participation once block production begins. At 10 AM, the updated staking web app will be available, allowing users to register their Phase-1 stakes into the new Babylon Phase-2 testnet. The original staking app will remain active until 8:30 AM UTC for users wishing to monitor their existing Phase-1 stakes.
Focus of Babylon Phase 2 Testnet
The primary goal of the Babylon Phase 2 testnet is to introduce a PoS chain secured by Signet Bitcoin and Babylon stakes. This phase will test: - Seamless registration of existing Signet Bitcoin stakes into Phase-2. - Babylon’s operational stability by engaging key participants, including Signet Bitcoin stakers, finality providers, CometBFT validators, liquid (re)staking protocols, and wallet and dApp developers.
