The Berachain Foundation has officially announced a $647 million airdrop of its BERA token, coinciding with the mainnet launch on February 6, 2025.
Details of the BERA Airdrop
Berachain will distribute 79 million BERA tokens to participants in its ecosystem. Tokens will be allocated to testnet users, NFT holders, and community builders. About 34.5 million tokens will go to holders of Bong Bears and related NFT projects. Over 8.2 million tokens are earmarked for participants in the Artio and bArtio public testnets.
BERA Token Distribution
BERA serves as both a gas token for transactions and a staking token to secure the network. Tokenomics include 13.1% for community initiatives, 20% for research and development, 16.8% for initial contributors, and 34.3% for investors. The network will distribute 1.25 million tokens to active community members on social platforms. Berachain is also partnering with Binance to distribute 10 million tokens to BNB holders.
Berachain's Goals and Significance
Berachain is an EVM-identical blockchain integrating the PoL consensus mechanism, enhancing network security and scalability. Aiming to solve the 'cold start problem,' it provides meaningful user and application interactions from day one. Having already raised $142 million in early funding, the network is gaining considerable attention within the crypto community for its innovations and technical backing.
With the mainnet launch and airdrop, Berachain aims to strengthen its position among competitors and draw users' attention to its innovative ecosystem.
