  4. The creator of the iconic meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin, Billy Markus, announced that he has no intention of working on new cryptocurrency projects.

    Markus' Statement

Today, Billy Markus, known on social media as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, made a statement on the X platform, clarifying that he has no plans to create new cryptocurrencies. Markus stressed that since 2014, he has not been involved in any cryptocurrency projects after launching Dogecoin and Bells.

    > "Just going to reiterate that I have not created any cryptocurrency except Dogecoin in 2013 (and Bells before that), have not worked on any cryptocurrency since 2014, and will never create or work on any cryptocurrency since those two," — Shibetoshi Nakamoto (@BillyM2k), September 25, 2024

    Bells Project

Markus also mentioned his first project, Bells, in response to an X user. He clarified that he made the code for Bells before proposing to Palmer to work on DOGE together. Markus noted that the current Bells project runs on Ethereum and is different from the original. "Keep in mind that the current Bells token was completely resurrected, the old blockchain was wiped out, and a new one was started by others," he pointed out.

    > "No, that's an Ethereum token, I didn't make it. Ethereum didn't exist in 2013. I made a scrypt coin that failed instantly in 2013, which was resurrected by other people last year," — Shibetoshi Nakamoto (@BillyM2k), September 25, 2024

    Refuting 2013 Ethereum Projects

Markus also stressed that some Ethereum-based token creators falsely claim their projects were launched in 2013. "This is a very obvious lie, as Ethereum was not created until 2015," he said. In response to a question about whether he created Bitcoin, Markus humorously replied, "Yes, and I created the internet and oxygen."

Billy Markus has made it clear that he does not plan to engage in future cryptocurrency projects. His statements aim to dispel rumors and misunderstandings related to his role in creating new crypto projects.
