Binance Labs has made a strategic investment in Kernel, a restaking infrastructure platform aimed at enhancing the security and scalability of the BNB Chain.
What is Kernel?
Kernel is a restaking infrastructure platform that aims to enhance the security and utility of staked assets. Restaking allows users to redeploy their staked assets, creating a shared security model supporting a wide range of applications and services using BNB Liquid Staking Tokens (LSTs).
Kernel's Ecosystem and Achievements
Kernel includes three flagship products: a cross-chain restaking platform, Kelp — a liquid restaking solution on Ethereum, and Gain — tokenized yield products. These solutions collectively offer a $100 billion opportunity in restaking and DeFi. Since its inception, Kernel has reached significant milestones: $1 billion+ in TVL, 10+ Layer-2 integrations, and 120+ DeFi integrations.
Kernel's Future Plans
Kernel aims to expand its restaking model to other Layer 1 blockchains and include broader asset integration. Among Kernel's future objectives are creating a global shared security model, supporting diverse asset types, and fostering developer support.
Binance Labs' investment in Kernel represents a significant step towards innovative development for BNB Chain. The Kernel project showcases the potential to create a more secure and resilient decentralized ecosystem.
