Binance Smart Chain (BSC) has reached a new record in DEX trading volume, surpassing blockchains like Solana and Ethereum following the launch of the Maxwell upgrade, which enhanced network efficiency.
DEX Volume on Binance Smart Chain
According to DeFiLlama, BSC’s DEX trading volume over the last 24 hours was more than three times that of Solana and over four times that of Ethereum. Over the last 30 days, BSC recorded a total trading volume of $172.408 billion, compared to Solana at $61.944 billion and Ethereum at $56.429 billion. The primary driver of this volume was PancakeSwap, the leading DEX on BNB Chain.
Maxwell Upgrade Speeds Up Network Performance
The Maxwell upgrade, launched on June 30, includes enhancements that reduced block times from 1.5 seconds to 0.75 seconds. This was the second reduction in 2025 following the Lorentz upgrade in April. Updates BEP-524, BEP-563, and BEP-564 improved transaction speed, ensuring high finality and overall responsiveness of the system.
BNB Price Shows Strength Amid Network Growth
The price of Binance Coin (BNB) also increased alongside the surge in DeFi activity and network enhancements. As of July 2, BNB was trading around $664, up 2.62% over the past 24 hours. The 24-hour trading volume stood at $1.47 billion, with BNB's market cap reaching $93.55 billion.
In conclusion, Binance Smart Chain has strengthened its position in the decentralized finance market, demonstrating high DEX trading volume and successful network upgrades. These factors may continue to influence the performance and price of BNB in the future.
