According to a new report by Bybit, Bitcoin's share in cryptocurrency investors' portfolios has significantly increased in 2025, linked to new regulations and rising institutional interest.
Increase in Bitcoin's Share
Currently, Bitcoin accounts for approximately one-third of investors’ assets — 30.95% as of May 2025, up from 25.4% in November 2024. As a result, Bitcoin has become the largest single asset among cryptocurrency investors. Moreover, the Ether to Bitcoin ratio fell to a low of 0.15 at the end of April, before recovering to 0.27.
Institutional Adoption of Bitcoin
Meanwhile, the number of companies holding Bitcoin on their balance sheets has nearly doubled since June 5, increasing from 124 to over 244. Currently, a total of 3.45 million Bitcoins are held in treasuries, accounting for 6.6% of the total supply through Bitcoin spot ETFs.
Trader Allocation Trends
Despite these positive aspects, the share of Bitcoin in retail traders' portfolios has dropped by 37% since November 2024, now totaling only 11.6%. This decline is likely due to traders reallocating funds towards altcoins such as XRP and stablecoins. The share of XRP in portfolios has increased from 1.29% to 2.42% during the same period.
Overall, there is a sustained increase in interest towards Bitcoin, both from institutional investors and retail traders, which may suggest positive trends moving forward.
