Despite economic fluctuations, Bitcoin's price remains within the $80,000 range due to active participation from institutional investors.
Shift in Ownership: Institutional Investors on the Rise
According to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, Bitcoin's price stability in recent months is attributed to a shift in ownership towards institutional investors. In particular, major firms like Strategy are becoming the primary buyers, absorbing the supply that once rattled retail-dominated markets.
Corporate Purchases Set Records
As of 2025, inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs, particularly BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), continue to demonstrate resilience, reaching $2.4 billion year-to-date. IBIT ranks in the top 1% of all ETFs. According to Bitwise, Q1 2025 saw public companies making a record acquisition of 95,431 BTC, with Strategy leading the way by purchasing 3,459 BTC for $286 million.
Bitcoin Price Dynamics in Recent Weeks
Currently, Bitcoin is trading at $84,400, showing a slight 0.9% uptick in the past 24 hours and a 3.6% increase over the week. However, in the long-term outlook, Bitcoin has changed little, gaining only 1.4% over the past month, supporting Balchunas’ thesis on owner stability.
Thus, institutional buyers and ETF inflows provide price stability for Bitcoin, which may indicate a stronger foundation for the cryptocurrency's value.
