The program necessitates a transition to new addresses within five years; otherwise, users risk losing access to their funds. They are also considering BIP 360, which introduces address formats incorporating post-quantum cryptography.

Despite current quantum computers being unable to crack ECDSA, preliminary forecasts suggest that quantum computing may become a threat within ten years. Lopp emphasizes that the Bitcoin community must unite to seek solutions before these threats materialize.
