Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget is expanding its presence in Latin America by obtaining a Bitcoin Service Provider (BSP) license in El Salvador.
Bitget's BSP License
The Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador has granted Bitget a Bitcoin Service Provider (BSP) license, allowing the platform to offer Bitcoin services in the country. This includes Bitcoin-to-fiat exchanges, BTC payments, and secure asset custody.
Why El Salvador?
Since 2021, El Salvador has been a leader in cryptocurrency adoption, having made Bitcoin legal tender. Bitget sees strategic opportunities for growth in the country. According to the platform's Chief Business Officer, Min Lin, El Salvador could become a key point in the development of cryptocurrencies.
Global Expansion of Bitget
Bitget's expansion into El Salvador is part of a broader global growth strategy. The platform is also active in Europe, including obtaining a VASP license in Poland and collaborating with the UK's company Archax to comply with local regulations.
Bitget continues to strengthen its positions in the global cryptocurrency market, expanding its geographical presence and increasing accessibility of digital assets to a wide range of users.
