BlackRock, a financial giant, continues to grow its Bitcoin assets under management through its ETF and may soon surpass Satoshi Nakamoto as the leading Bitcoin holder.
Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?
Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonym of Bitcoin's creator, is estimated to hold approximately 1.124 million BTC, making him the largest holder of this cryptocurrency. According to Arkham Intelligence estimates, this figure stands at 1.096 million BTC, distributed across 22,000 long-dormant addresses. Some keys to these wallets may have been lost, and there are opinions suggesting that Satoshi may no longer be alive.
BlackRock's Success in Crypto Investment
BlackRock has emerged as a leading force among traditional financial firms entering the cryptocurrency space. Currently, its Bitcoin ETF boasts over $75 billion in assets, attracting an additional $164 million in inflows in just one day. If this trend continues, BlackRock could become the largest holder of Bitcoin within a year.
Competition Among Major Bitcoin Holders
In third place among major Bitcoin holders is Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) with 597,325 BTC. Notably, its holdings are close to those of Binance and may continue to grow. Grayscale holds fifth place with 229,418 BTC but has weakened its position in the ETF race due to significant outflows.
The Bitcoin market landscape continues to evolve, with BlackRock's approach to potentially becoming the largest holder highlighting the increasing interest of traditional finance in cryptocurrencies.
