BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has reached a significant milestone by surpassing the 700,000 BTC mark due to active investments and market share expansion.
BlackRock's Achievements in Bitcoin ETF
Launched in January 2024, IBIT reached approximately $76 billion in assets by July 8, 2025, adding 1,510 BTC in just one day. The fund is now the third highest revenue generator among 1,197 ETFs managed by BlackRock.
Reasons for IBIT's Success
IBIT's success is attributed to surpassing Grayscale's GBTC in asset size and commanding 56% of all US-based spot Bitcoin ETF assets. IBIT accounts for about 80% of the daily trading volume of $2.9 billion, significantly impacting market liquidity.
Market Impact and Future of Bitcoin
US spot Bitcoin ETFs have attracted substantial investments, exceeding $50 billion. The ETF structure mitigates security and custody risks associated with cryptocurrencies, drawing institutional investors.
With significant institutional interest and limited Bitcoin supply, long-term price increases may occur, highlighting the importance of the intersection between traditional finance and digital assets.
