BNB Smart Chain announced the Pascal upgrade, aiming to enhance cross-chain compatibility and user experience by adopting certain features from Ethereum's Pectra upgrade.
What new features Pascal will bring
The Pascal upgrade will not result in a new coin but introduces technical improvements such as native smart contract wallets and enhanced security. Pascal will also offer multi-signature support for smart contract wallets and the ability to adjust spending limits. The upgrade enhances efficiency with faster transaction verification through the new BEP-439 proposal. Users need not take any action but should be prepared for potential gas cost volatility. Protocol developers must ensure compatibility with new features. Those dealing with block headers should be aware of changes in header structure related to new proposals.
When Pascal upgrade will happen
The Pascal upgrade will be rolled out in two stages: the first on BNB Smart Chain Testnet on February 25, and the second in mid-March on the mainnet. This allows developers to detect potential bugs and test new features. Upcoming major upgrades Lorentz, scheduled for April, and Maxwell, expected in June, will further reduce block intervals.
The Pascal upgrade is a significant advancement for BNB Smart Chain, aimed at improving security, compatibility, and user convenience for both users and developers.
