The Buenos Aires Ministry of Education, in partnership with the ETH Kipu Foundation, is incorporating blockchain and Ethereum technologies into high school education. Starting August 27, students in Buenos Aires high schools will gain hands-on experience with these technologies.
Growing Interest in Blockchain
The program will include professional internships focusing on blockchain projects, giving students direct exposure to real-world applications of the technology.
Paula D., co-founder of the ETH Kipu Foundation, believes this initiative will open up new career paths for young Argentines and place Argentina at the forefront of the global blockchain movement.
Online Solidity Course
The ETH Kipu Foundation is also launching an online Solidity course for 500 students aged 18 and over. Solidity is the primary programming language used to develop applications on the Ethereum blockchain. The course aims to integrate participants into the Ethereum development community and help them create applications that can integrate with local businesses, potentially boosting the local economy.
Teacher Training
To ensure the initiative's success, the ETH Kipu Foundation is also focusing on training educators. A hybrid training program will be provided for 30 teachers to equip them with the necessary skills to effectively teach Ethereum and blockchain concepts.
This component is crucial for maintaining high educational standards and ensuring students receive accurate and up-to-date information. Training teachers will create a knowledgeable cadre capable of inspiring and guiding students as they explore blockchain technology's complexities. This approach ensures the program's impact extends beyond the immediate student body to the broader educational community.
While the current focus is on Buenos Aires, there is potential for this initiative to expand to other cities or provinces in Argentina, according to reports. Buenos Aires has already shown a progressive stance towards cryptocurrencies, with plans to run Ethereum nodes by 2023.
