SafeWallet Compromise: Safe's Overview
Safe conducted a forensic analysis of the Bybit hack and found no vulnerabilities in Safe's smart contracts or front-end portal code. Martin Köppelmann noted that the compromised machine was altered to target Bybit Safe and divert transactions to another hardware wallet.
Community Criticism and Reaction
Binance co-founder Changpeng 'CZ' Zhao posted on X expressing dissatisfaction with Safe's update, criticizing it for lacking clarity. He sought clarification on the compromised developer machine and how hackers tricked multiple signers into approving the transaction.
Lazarus Group's Actions Post-Hack
The Lazarus Group transferred 45,900 ETH, valued at about $113 million, over the last 24 hours. The total laundered funds amount to over 135,000 ETH, approximately $335 million. Bybit and Elliptic tracked the stolen crypto to more than 11,000 wallets controlled by the Lazarus Group.
