Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit announced a temporary halt of its operations in India starting January 12, 2025, at 8:00 AM UTC.
Key Services: Trading, P2P and Copy Trading Suspended
Due to recent regulatory changes in India, users will no longer be able to open new trades or access other products on the Bybit platform, with the exception of withdrawals, which will remain available. All existing derivatives positions will be set to Close-Only mode, allowing users to close positions but not to open new ones.
Bybit's Efforts to Comply with Indian Regulations
Bybit continues to work closely with Indian regulators to complete its registration as a Virtual Digital Asset Service Provider in India. This process is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
Service Resumption Upon Registration Completion
Full service is anticipated to resume once registration with the Indian Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) is completed.
Bybit aims to resume full operations in India by focusing on regulatory compliance and registration as per the new requirements.
