A Canadian citizen has been charged with stealing cryptocurrency worth $65 million and laundering the proceeds from crypto platforms. The suspect, Andean Medjedovic, has been evading authorities since 2021.
Cryptocurrency Theft Charges
Andean Medjedovic, a former master's student at the University of Waterloo, has been charged with stealing cryptocurrency worth $65 million. Authorities claim he used his mathematical prowess for cybercriminal activities. Medjedovic was previously charged in Canada for the Indexed Finance hack.
Activities in the Crypto Space
Despite being a wanted man in Canada, Medjedovic remains active in the cryptocurrency landscape. His digital footprint suggests he identifies as a 'pirate' operating in a legal grey area. He attempted to control KyberSwap by returning a portion of the stolen money. He also manipulated prices by borrowing tokens and conducting trades at investors' expense.
