Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson announced the forthcoming ability for users of the Lace Wallet to hold, send, and receive XRP, expanding the wallet's capabilities.
Support for XRP in Lace Wallet
Hoskinson stated that wallet owners will be able to manage their XRP assets directly within Lace. This will allow users to send, receive, and hold XRP just like other assets, such as ADA and Bitcoin. The Lace Wallet was launched in April 2023 and initially only supported Cardano-based assets.
Discussions with Ripple
During the AMA session, Hoskinson confirmed that discussions between Input Output Global (IOG) and Ripple are going well. "Things are moving well," he noted, suggesting that past disagreements between the teams may be resolved. The development team is working on integrating XRP into the Lace Wallet.
Midnight Token Airdrop for XRP Users
In addition to XRP support, Hoskinson shared that XRP users will be eligible for the upcoming Midnight token airdrop. Midnight is Cardano's privacy-focused blockchain that supports secure decentralized applications. Its governance token is NIGHT, while another token, DUST, will be used for private transactions.
The integration of XRP into the Lace Wallet and the Midnight token airdrop opens new opportunities for Cardano users, enhancing functionality and access to new assets.
