Coinbase has announced the rebranding of its wallet to the Base app, integrating cryptocurrency and social features for users.

On July 16, Coinbase revealed the launch of its ‘everything app’. ‘Coinbase Wallet is now the Base app, evolving from a wallet into an everything app,’ the post stated.
Functionality and Features of Base App
The app will allow users to create, earn, trade, discover apps, and chat with friends. It includes a social feed built on the Farcaster protocol, where content can be turned into tokens, and users can earn through direct tips. ‘We have built the app to expand economic freedom, creativity, and innovation,’ said Head of Product John Granata.
Launch of Base Pay and Developer Opportunities
Along with the app launch, the new Base Pay solution for fast payments using USDC is available on Shopify. Later this year, U.S. customers can earn 1% cashback when making purchases with USDC. Coinbase also invites developers to integrate ‘Sign in with Base’ into their own applications.
The Base app represents a forward step for Coinbase, aiming to blend cryptocurrency with social opportunities, enhancing access to economic services.
