Over the weekend, the cryptocurrency sector experienced several hacking incidents, affecting CoinMarketCap and Cointelegraph.
CoinMarketCap Breach
In the two days ago attack on CoinMarketCap, this service, used by cryptocurrency users to track prices and other data, fell victim to hackers. According to blockchain security expert PeckShieldAlert, the frontend of CoinMarketCap was compromised.
CZ's Warning
Binance founder and former CEO CZ also issued a warning to users about the security of information they access on cryptocurrency information sites. He noted that hackers have changed their targets and are now attacking cryptocurrency information websites. CZ stated that based on on-chain analysis, 39 victims lost a total of $18,570.
Cointelegraph's Official Statement
Cointelegraph also confirmed the hacking incident by issuing a warning for users. Fake pop-ups appeared on the site, claiming to offer "ICO Airdrops" or "CTG tokens". The platform strongly advises users not to click on these pop-ups, not to link their wallets, and not to enter any personal information.
Thus, hacking incidents on cryptocurrency information platforms continue to escalate. Users are urged to exercise caution when using such resources.
