Core Scientific and CoreWeave have announced the expansion of their hosting contract, adding 120 MW to CoreWeave's computing operations.

Details of the expanded agreement

According to the October 22 announcement, the new agreement adds 120 megawatts of power to CoreWeave's high-performance computing operations, bringing the total to 500 MW across six Core Scientific sites.

Financial investments and terms

Site modifications are expected to begin in the second half of 2025, with the infrastructure becoming operational in the second half of 2026. All capital investments needed to upgrade Core Scientific’s data centers will be funded by CoreWeave, with $180 million in infrastructure investments credited against hosting fees. The expanded contract also allows for two potential five-year renewal terms.

Companies' plans and goals

CoreWeave, a specialized cloud infrastructure provider, focuses on expanding its solutions for AI and machine learning. Core Scientific will continue to enhance its AI services and diversify revenue streams, planning to provide about 700 MW for HPC hosting and 500 MW for Bitcoin mining. “There is significant demand for infrastructure to support next-generation compute workloads,” said Core Scientific’s CEO, Adam Sullivan.

The partnership with CoreWeave allows Core Scientific to solidify its position in the AI and high-performance computing market, increasing revenue and business growth.
