Core Scientific announced a $1.2 billion expansion of its Denton, Texas data center in collaboration with AI-focused CoreWeave.
Core Scientific and CoreWeave Partnership
According to Core Scientific’s February 26 press release, the agreement adds 70 megawatts of contracted power, increasing the site’s total critical IT load to 260 MW. Across six locations, CoreWeave now has 590 MW of infrastructure contracted with Core Scientific, reflecting the rising demand for AI and GPU-powered computing.
Business Implications of the Expansion
Core Scientific CEO Adam Sullivan noted that the expansion will strengthen the company’s leadership in AI. According to him, "by expanding our capacity in Denton, we’re building one of the largest GPU supercomputers in North America."
Future Strategic Development
The company expects $10.2 billion in total revenue over a 12-year contract. Under the agreement, Core Scientific will invest $104 million in capital expenditures, while CoreWeave will cover additional costs. The company plans to use 400 MW for Bitcoin mining and 900 MW for high-performance computing hosting.
Core Scientific is actively seeking new locations to increase its AI and cloud capabilities, strengthening its position in the data center sector.
