Public companies continue to accumulate Bitcoin, outpacing exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in Bitcoin purchases. According to Bitcoin Treasuries, significant amounts of cryptocurrency have been accumulated in 2025.
Increase in Corporate Bitcoin Purchases
In the second quarter of 2025, public companies accumulated approximately 131,000 BTC, increasing their holdings by 18%. Meanwhile, ETFs increased their holdings by 111,000 BTC, which represents an 8% growth during the same period.
Price and Accumulation Strategy
Experts note that companies are eager to grow their Bitcoin reserves, which could impact their attractiveness to investors. According to Nick Marie, head of research at Ecoinometrics, companies are not concerned about whether the price of Bitcoin is high or low. "They care about growing their reserves to look more appealing to proxy buyers."
Prospects for Ethereum
Some experts suggest that Ethereum may be the next target for accumulation, given its ability to provide additional yields through staking. For instance, SharpLink has already established a strategy to accumulate Ethereum based on its potential returns.
Thus, current market trends indicate a significant increase in public companies' interest in accumulating cryptocurrency as a strategy for enhancing their capitalization and attractiveness. The future accumulation of assets like Ethereum may also play a role in this dynamic.
