In October, the body of cryptocurrency influencer Kevin Mirshahi, who was abducted in June, was found in Montreal. His death added to the city's homicide count, bringing it to 32 cases this year.

Abduction and Murder of Kevin Mirshahi

As reported by The Gazette, the Quebec police confirmed that the decomposed remains were identified through an autopsy. Mirshahi was kidnapped along with three others from a condominium in Old Montreal. While the other captives were found within hours, Mirshahi remained missing.

Rising Crypto Crime

The abduction and murder of Mirshahi are part of a disturbing trend of violence against cryptocurrency figures. Recently, Haichao Zhu, co-founder of Rooch Network, was robbed in Bangkok, and several incidents occurred at the EthCC conference in Brussels.

Investigation and Arrests

Canadian authorities arrested 32-year-old Joanie Lepage, believed to be involved in the abduction and murder of Mirshahi. The police continue their investigation.

The death of Kevin Mirshahi highlights the rising violence in the cryptocurrency industry. Ongoing investigations and arrests offer hope for justice.
