CoinShares has announced a new educational campaign aimed at Swedish investors as part of its promotion of the new financial product CoinShares XBT Provider.
Objective of the 'Crypto Puppies' Campaign
According to a November 12 press release, the 'CoinShares Crypto Puppies' initiative, developed by the Swedish agency Save our Souls, aims to create positive associations with cryptocurrencies by appealing to the Swedes' cultural fondness for dogs. The company hopes the campaign will foster a 'heartwarming connection with crypto' and promote more open discussions about its benefits.
Challenges of the Crypto Industry in Sweden
CoinShares' survey reveals that Sweden's crypto adoption rate lags behind the European average, with only 9% of Swedes owning cryptocurrencies. CEO Jean-Marie Mognetti suggests this might be due to 'persistent negative media attention' on crypto-related challenges. In September, the Swedish Police Authority and Financial Intelligence Unit labeled some unregulated crypto exchanges as 'professional money launderers,' highlighting the need for stricter oversight in Sweden's growing crypto sector.
Global Educational Initiatives for Crypto
CoinShares' initiative follows similar global projects, such as the recent establishment of a 'Bitcoin Office' in Santa Monica, California. In August, Santa Monica's Vice Mayor Lana Negrete opened the office to educate residents about Bitcoin's economic potential and promote job creation through cryptocurrency, as part of the city's economic recovery plan. The campaign will run for more than a month, featuring digital videos, billboard ads, print ads, and collaborations with influencers.
CoinShares focuses its efforts on increasing Swedish awareness and interest in cryptocurrencies through legislative and educational measures, aligning with global trends in expanding crypto education.
