Latin America continues to grow as a key player in the crypto market, while facing issues in the crypto media sector.
Cryptocurrency in Latin America
In 2024, Latin America recorded over $415 billion in on-chain transaction volume, making it the second-fastest-growing crypto market in the world. People in Argentina are actively using stablecoins for cross-border transfers, and lawmakers in Brazil proposed a bill allowing salary payments in Bitcoin.
Media Challenges in the Crypto Industry
According to Outset PR, 72.73% of Latin America's crypto news outlets lost traffic in Q1 2025. Out of 55 outlets tracked, only 6 captured 70% of the total traffic, and none exceeded one million average monthly visits.
Future of Crypto Media in the Region
Despite the challenges, 24 out of 55 outlets showed traffic growth in March 2025. Expected regulatory changes in Brazil and the development of new Spanish-language content from global operators may influence the future of media in the crypto industry.
Latin America is becoming a significant player in the crypto arena, but media in this sector face increasing challenges that require adaptation and strategic changes.
