Changpeng Zhao, former CEO of Binance, alerted on a potential account hack and announced that YZi Labs employees promoting tokens will be fired.
Account hacking and suspicions
Changpeng Zhao shared a screenshot of an account belonging to a Binance supporter. The account was suspected to be hacked as it began promoting meme coins. The account handle is artists_voyager, claiming to be a social media manager and content creator for web3 companies. The owner of the account does not work at Binance or YZi Labs, but many in the Binance community follow this account because the owner is a long-time supporter of BNB.
Warning to YZi Labs
CZ warned YZi Labs employees against promoting any cryptocurrency coins both privately and publicly. Employees caught promoting tokens will be fired immediately upon discovery.
Recent hacks in the crypto community
Recently, Solana-based Pump.fun's account was hacked and used to promote scam meme coins. Pump.fun has since regained control of its account. The Dior Instagram account was also hacked to promote a Solana meme coin named Dior Official Coin.
These frequent account hacks highlight the importance of security. Changpeng Zhao strongly warns against unauthorized token promotions.
