Deutsche Bank has announced the impending launch of its crypto custody service, set for 2026. The service is being developed using technologies from Bitpanda.
Development of Custody System
The custody system is under development by the bank's corporate division and was originally announced in 2022. However, only now are concrete steps towards its implementation coming to light. The strategic partner is Taurus SA, which provides tools for managing tokenized assets.
Exploration of Stablecoins and Tokens
In addition to the custody service launch, Deutsche Bank is exploring opportunities to participate in stablecoin and token projects. The bank is considering issuing its own token or joining an industry project focused on blockchain payments.
Partnership with Taurus and Investments
The partnership with Taurus goes beyond technical aspects. In 2023, Deutsche Bank participated in a $65 million investment round, strengthening the long-term relationship between the companies and leading to new product development.
With the launch of its custody service and exploration of stablecoins, Deutsche Bank aims to solidify its position in the crypto industry while adhering to new regulatory requirements.
