Deutsche Bank, one of Germany’s leading banks, has announced the launch of a crypto custody service in 2026. This move is part of a global trend among banks exploring opportunities in digital assets.
Deutsche Bank's Crypto Custody Plans
According to a Bloomberg report, Deutsche Bank plans to implement its crypto custody services, which were first announced in 2022. The bank is ramping up activity in the crypto sector, as Europe's second-largest economy shows interest in regulating digital assets.
Collaboration with Bitpanda and Taurus
As part of the rollout of services, Deutsche Bank is collaborating with Bitpanda Technology Solutions, the tech arm of crypto exchange Bitpanda. Additionally, the bank will continue its partnership with Taurus SA, a Swiss digital asset firm it backed in a $65 million funding round last year.
Expansion of Crypto Services in Germany
Interest in digital assets is also growing among other banks in Germany. For example, Sparkassen, which previously rejected crypto services, plans to launch cryptocurrency trading for retail customers by summer 2026. This decision marks a significant shift from their earlier stance on the high risks associated with cryptocurrencies.
With the rising interest in cryptocurrencies among major banks, Deutsche Bank and other financial institutions in Germany and Europe continue to take active steps toward integrating digital assets into their services.
