A THORChain developer has decided to leave the project after a vote to block transactions linked to North Korean hackers was revoked.
Pluto's Departure from the Project
THORChain's core developer, known as 'Pluto,' announced their decision to stop contributing to the protocol. Pluto stated they would remain available for an orderly transition of responsibilities.
The Transaction Controversy
THORChain validator TCB stated that they were one of the three validators to vote to halt Ether trading on the protocol to prevent its use by the North Korean hacking group Lazarus Group. This vote was overturned almost immediately, as four votes are required to reverse it.
Community Reaction and Comments
THORChain founder John-Paul Thorbjornsen stated that none of the sanctioned wallet addresses involved with the FBI or US Treasury have interacted with the protocol. He emphasized that the speed at which the Lazarus Group moves funds is greater than the capabilities of screening services.
The departure of THORChain developers highlights the regulatory and security challenges facing projects in the crypto space.
