On November 14, the Dogwifhat account on platform X was hijacked to promote Solana tokens. Scammers attempted to inflate the price of three meme coins through deceptive posts, resulting in a brief spike in their value.

Dogwifhat account breach

The dog-themed meme coin Dogwifhat became a target for hackers on platform X. During the takeover, the account was used to promote Solana tokens by the fraudsters.

Meme tokens announcements

Hackers began posting about the MUU token and others, clearly attempting to boost their price. The community quickly noticed the posts, and security firm Harpie confirmed the account breach.

Counteractions and consequences

Following the posts-induced price rise, the tokens experienced a sharp drop as bad actors liquidated their holdings. Dogwifhat developers regained account control, highlighting the vulnerability of social media to such attacks.

Incidents of account hijacks underscore the importance of verifying information sources and strengthening security within the crypto community.
