Buenos Aires' Ministry of Education has partnered with the ETH Kipu Foundation to incorporate blockchain technology and Ethereum into school curricula. Starting from August 27, high school students in Buenos Aires will gain hands-on experience with these technologies through integration into their programs.
Integration of Blockchain into School Education
The program will include professional internships focused on blockchain projects, allowing students to engage directly with real-world applications of the technology. Paula D., co-founder of the ETH Kipu Foundation, believes this initiative will not only open up new career paths for young Argentines but also put Argentina at the forefront of the global blockchain movement.
Online Solidity Course for Beginners
In addition to the in-school program, the ETH Kipu Foundation is launching an online Solidity course aimed at training 500 students aged 18 and over. Solidity is the primary programming language used for developing applications on the Ethereum blockchain. The course aims to empower participants to join the Ethereum developer community and create applications that integrate with local businesses, potentially boosting the local economy. The online course is designed to provide practical skills and knowledge, helping students build a strong foundation in blockchain technology.
Teacher Training
To ensure the initiative's success, the ETH Kipu Foundation is also focusing on training educators. A 'hybrid training' program will be provided to 30 teachers, equipping them with the skills necessary to effectively teach Ethereum and blockchain concepts. This component is crucial for maintaining high educational standards and ensuring that students receive accurate and up-to-date information. The teacher training is designed to create a knowledgeable cadre of educators who can inspire and guide students as they explore the complexities of blockchain technology. While the current focus is on Buenos Aires, there is potential for this initiative to expand to other cities or provinces in Argentina, according to reports.
Buenos Aires has already shown a progressive stance towards cryptocurrency, with plans to run Ethereum nodes by 2023. This new initiative to educate students on blockchain technology and Ethereum further solidifies the city's position as a leader in innovation and technology.
