Increase in Bitcoin Asset Value
The nation's initial investment was $287.1 million, and the current value is over $644.4 million. As reported by El Salvador's Bitcoin office, the country currently holds around 6,181 BTC, estimated to be worth $639 million.
Continued Bitcoin Accumulation
President Naib Bukele has confirmed that the accumulation of Bitcoin will continue despite the country's agreements with the IMF to restrict Bitcoin-related actions. A bill was passed in January 2025, making Bitcoin acceptance voluntary for the private sector.
Global Cryptocurrency Trends
El Salvador is now the sixth-largest sovereign Bitcoin holder after the U.S., China, U.K., Ukraine, and Bhutan. Some other countries are also participating in this race, while many are observing.
