Emirates Airline has signed a partnership with crypto exchange Crypto.com to integrate cryptocurrency payments into its services, addressing growing customer demand for digital assets.
Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding
On July 9, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Dubai between Emirates and Crypto.com allowing cryptocurrency payments for tickets and other transactions.
Strategy for Utilizing Cryptocurrency
Emirates stated that this move reflects its digital strategy and aims to offer flexible payment options to customers. The airline had previously shown interest in crypto payments in 2022.
Prospects for Crypto Payment Integration
The feature is expected to go live next year, once internal readiness and regulatory approvals are in place. Both companies are planning joint initiatives to promote awareness and adoption of this new payment solution.
If successfully completed, Emirates would become one of the first major international airlines to fully integrate cryptocurrency into its payment system.
