The Ethereum team has launched a unique project – a blockchain time capsule that allows users to preserve memories. The project commemorates the 10th anniversary of the network.
Launch of the Time Capsule
At the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC), the time capsule project was unveiled. Users can lock their messages, art, and predictions inside encrypted smart contracts until the next anniversary next year. The entry fee is approximately $2.50 in ETH.
Support and Objectives of the Project
The project is supported by organizations such as Protocol Guild and Shutter Network. All proceeds will be donated to Protocol Guild to support core research. Encrypted entries will remain sealed until July 30 next year, when the contract will decrypt each entry and store it permanently on Ethereum's ledger.
History and Development of Ethereum
Founded by Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum was launched in 2015 and has become the second-largest cryptocurrency network. Ethereum technology enables programmability and creates new boundaries for financial technology. As of now, Ethereum's market capitalization is nearly $300 billion.
The time capsule on Ethereum aims not only to preserve memories but also to strengthen community values as the network approaches its next decade.
