The Switzerland-based blockchain company Fedrok AG has partnered with Malagasy social enterprise Greentsika to implement a project focused on recycling plastic and organic waste in Madagascar, utilizing blockchain to incentivize recycling.
Collaboration Between Fedrok AG and Greentsika
In June 2025, Fedrok AG and Greentsika signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at exploring how blockchain infrastructure can aid in waste collection initiatives. Greentsika will manage local operations through its 'Cash for Trash' initiative.
Tokenized Reward System
Under the partnership, Fedrok AG will provide the blockchain infrastructure, which may involve issuing project-specific tokens on its Layer 1 blockchain. The tokens distributed will be digital rewards linked to environmental actions. 'It’s a shared mission to unlock the economic value of waste,' said Dr. Philip Blazdell, CEO of Fedrok AG.
Future of the Environmental Initiative
This initiative aims to create a closed-loop model where local residents are financially incentivized to recycle, with every transaction recorded and certified using blockchain. 'It creates a transparent audit trail of local recycling contributions and environmental outcomes,' emphasized Gaetan Rajaofera, co-founder of Greentsika.
The partnership between Fedrok AG and Greentsika marks a significant advancement in the fields of ecology and sustainable development, opening new avenues for local communities through modern technologies.
