Authorities in France have charged 25 individuals, including minors, in connection with the kidnappings and attempted abductions of notable figures in the cryptocurrency industry.

The charges relate to kidnappings that have occurred in Paris since the beginning of the year. The Paris prosecutor's office reported that suspects range in age from 16 to 23, including six minors. Of the 25 suspects, 18 are now in pre-trial detention, three have requested a deferred hearing, and four remain under judicial supervision.

Since 2023, there has been a spike in kidnappings related to cryptocurrency in France. One incident involved the daughter and grandson of Pierre Noizat, the CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange Paymium. Although the abductors did not succeed, they left significant injuries and chaos in their wake.

In response to the growing threat, France's Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau held an urgent meeting with cryptocurrency industry representatives to discuss security measures. Enhanced cooperation between law enforcement and crypto firms has been mentioned, including home security checks.
