Ripple has issued an urgent warning regarding fraud aimed at XRP holders, highlighting the use of advanced technologies by scammers.
Fraud and AI Use in XRP Scams
Ripple's legal team, led by Stuart Alderoty, reported a surge in fraud cases involving advanced technologies such as AI voice cloning. Scammers imitate Ripple executives, including CEO Brad Garlinghouse, to disguise their schemes as fake XRP giveaways.
Security Advice from Ripple
Alderoty emphasized that crypto users should never share their private keys or recovery phrases. He also advised against clicking on unfamiliar links and responding to unsolicited messages, recommending users verify project information and conduct due diligence before any transactions.
Current State of Crypto and Ripple's Response
Ripple's internal investigations indicate that using AI in scams is making it harder to detect fraudulent content. Despite this, Alderoty noted that cryptocurrency is not inherently more dangerous than other online environments, citing that less than one percent of American crypto users have experienced scams. The company encourages users to report suspicious activity and reminds them that information will always be shared through verified channels.
Ripple urges the public to stay vigilant to emerging threats linked to AI-driven scams and assures that the company does not support any XRP giveaways.
