FTX is continuing its payment process to creditors nearly three years after bankruptcy. Recent data indicates differing payment levels based on the size of claims.
Progress of FTX Creditor Payments
According to creditor activist Sunil Kavuri, payments are ongoing. Creditors with claims under $50,000 received 120% of their amount in February and May 2025.
Creditor Rights and Payment Amounts
For creditors with claims over $50,000, a 72.5% payout was made in May. The remaining 27.5% is expected in additional distributions planned for October and December 2026, and into 2027. Kavuri's post mentions that post-petition interest returns are estimated to range between 40% and 80%. Payments are being made under a Chapter 11 plan approved by a bankruptcy judge in Delaware.
Legal Proceedings Involving Celebrities
In May, a US court dismissed the bulk of lawsuits against several celebrities and YouTubers who endorsed the crypto exchange before its collapse. Those cleared included Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen, and Stephen Curry. However, Shaquille O'Neal agreed to pay $1.8 million to settle a class-action lawsuit from FTX investors.
Payments to FTX creditors are continuing with plans for further distributions aimed at full recovery of funds. Legal proceedings involving celebrities continue to impact the company's situation.
