Gary Wang served as a key witness against Bankman-Fried, aiding the U.S. government’s successful prosecution, which led to a 25-year prison sentence for Bankman-Fried in April 2023.

Wang argues that his involvement in the events leading to FTX’s collapse and the estimated $10 billion fraud was relatively limited. His role mainly involved following Bankman-Fried’s directives, such as altering FTX’s code to provide Alameda access to customer funds—a move that ultimately led to the platform’s downfall in 2022.
