Google announced its latest experimental AI model, Gemini 2.5, which ranked second in a leaderboard for AI-driven web development tools.
What is Gemini 2.5?
On March 25, Google announced that developers can try out Gemini 2.5 Pro. The company described it as a 'thinking' model, capable of reasoning before responding, enhancing both accuracy and performance in coding, science, and math tasks.
Gemini 2.5's Achievements in Competitions
Google's new AI model ranked second in LMArena’s WebDev leaderboard, a real-time coding competition. The model had an arena score of 1267.70, surpassing DeepSeek, Grok, and ChatGPT, while Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet took the top spot with a score of 1354.01.
ChatGPT's Dominance in the AI Tools Market
Despite many companies improving their AI models, OpenAI’s ChatGPT continues to dominate. In 2024, it recorded over 40 billion yearly visits, holding nearly 40% market share. Other competitors like Canva and DeepSeek have increased their shares, but ChatGPT remains atop with 43% in February.
Google has made significant advancements in AI with Gemini 2.5, yet ChatGPT continues to lead the AI tools market.
