Rapid development of decentralized finance (DeFi), including specialized DEX, stablecoins, and tokenized assets, is expected in 2025.
Growth Trends of DEX and Stablecoins
Curve Finance founder Michael Egorov believes that in 2025, the growth of decentralized exchanges will be associated with the emergence of new platforms tailored for specific purposes. Examples include exchanges for stablecoins pegged to different fiat currencies, addressing foreign exchange issues. Egorov emphasized the need to provide liquidity while the question of how to do it profitably remains open.
Legal Landscape of DeFi
Although the DeFi market is growing rapidly, regulation of this sector has not kept up with the pace of innovation. For instance, the US recently repealed a rule requiring DeFi platforms to report financial information to the tax authorities. Both the Senate and House of Representatives voted to repeal the rule.
Forecasts for Institutional Investors
According to a report from Dune Analytics and Artemis, the number of active stablecoin addresses has significantly increased in 2025. A study by Coinbase and EY-Parthenon also indicated that 83% of institutional investors plan to increase their crypto investments this year.
Decentralized finance continues to grow actively, attracting interest from both individual and institutional investors. However, the development of modern regulatory frameworks is crucial for sustainable growth.
